NYC Officials Propose Alternative Fuel Station To Combat Asthma

The Wall Street journal is reporting on attempts by New York City officials to have a public alternative fuel station built in the Bronx. The proposed station would pump natural gas, ethanol, and biodiesel and would be built in Hunts Point an industrial area in the Bronx. Currently, 12,000 diesel trucks pass through the are every day. The 12,000 residents of Hunts Point have long been concerned about the neighborhood's high asthma rates, linked to airborne pollutants, and hope that an alternative fuel station will be a step in a larger initiative to clean up the air in their neighborhood.Concentration of airborne pollutants such as car and truck exhaust have been linked to high rates of asthma. If you live in an area with heavy traffic and are suffering from symptoms including shortness of breath, chest tightness, wheezing, and coughing, contact our office to arrange an appointment.
